Taupo Luxury. A wonderful night at this boutique lodge. Rob and Karen who run the place are delightful hosts and cannot do enough to make your experience a memorable one. The rooms are curated nicely with eclectic but well matched styling. The little touches such as a complimentary bottle of wine, chocolates, drinks snacks and oh, more chocolates are nice to have and make your feel pampered. Our room was large, with modern bathroom and everything was clean and sparkling. The view over the lake is excellent, particularly from the comfort of the spa pool on the private deck. I managed to talk my wife into a couple of games of pool on their 12 x 6 slate billiard table. after we had strolled back from a nice dinner down the road at the local restaurant. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruits galore and a fully cooked option or continental all included in the price. Silver Service of course, no cheap crockery or cutlery here! Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion. What better way to surprise your partner than with a night at the Flying Trout?

The main question to answer when reviewing any hotel is “would I stay there again?” - in the case of The Flying Trout Lodge - my answer is ABSOLUTELY! We enjoyed genuinely warm hospitality from our lovely hosts, and loved the luxurious glamour evident in every thoughtful detail of this beautiful property - from the furnishings, cutlery, extremely comfortable bedding (and even our own private spa pool in the Kiwi Suite) with breath taking views, absolute peace and quiet, and an adorable Bessie to cuddle. Stunning roses, tennis court, privacy and far more “soul” than the places we usually stay in Taupo! I’d highly recommend this wonderful accommodation and experience - the only thing we will do differently next visit is to stay longer!

Luxurious, opulent, relaxing and worth every penny. An amazing stay, with absolutely stunning decor. Pillows and beds were very comfortable and luxurious. The hosts went above and beyond, without invading your space. Outside spa was super relaxing, whilst drinking complementary wine. We loved EVERYTHING.
